HELP YOUR CLUB
If you would like further information on
any particular area, without obligation, or would like to offer your help, please fill out the form below:-
Club Desks
We hold Club Nights on Mondays at Romsey Rapids and on Fridays at Totton Recreation Centre. On both evenings during term times only we run a desk to provide membership details, receive payments for lessons and Club Members, and give advice and information on forthcoming galas, joining the club, etc.
At Totton there is a rota system, the desk is usually manned between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm by two helpers. The desk at Romsey is manned between 6.45 pm and 8.30 pm.
The Main Club Committee
Our AGM is held in January each year and all officers and committee members stand down or stand for re-election. The officers of the Club are Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. We are also able to elect up to 12 committee members.
Many committee members have a job within the Club, but this is not essential. You can be on the committee to put your views forward or offer advice. Some parents have jobs within the Club and are not on the committee.
The committee meet every second Thursday of the month at Totton Recreation Centre, except during August.
Club jobs include Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Child Protection Officer, ASA Registrations Secretary, Fixtures Secretary, Open Meets Secretary, Extra Training Co-ordinator, Rats Rap Editor, Club Championships Organisers, Publicity Officer.
Parent Supporters Association (PSA)
We have a Parents Supporters Association who meet about every 6-8 weeks or so, usually on a Friday night at Totton Recreation Centre.
There are currently 8-10 members, including the PSA Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Their main goals are to fund raise for the Club, help to run our Novice Galas by providing refreshments and holding a raffle, and organise social events. They also run the Club Swimshop and the 100 Club.
Train To Become a Swimming Teacher or Assistant
We are always looking to increase the number of teachers or in-water helpers. The Club usually pays and arranges for ASA Level 1 Teachers courses or ASA Helper course, and then the fee is ‘worked off’ by helping out with our lessons programme on a Monday or Friday evening.
Maybe you would like to start off by helping an already qualified teacher.
Gala Officials
We have an excellent record for keeping up our number of timekeepers, judges and referees, but we are always looking out for more.
If you would like to start off by taking the timekeepers course, we can arrange this for you, and you can then be on poolside helping out at galas as and when suits you.
On An Ad Hoc Basis
- Help is often required at certain times of the year with printing, especially for our RatsRap magazine, or for programmes for our novice galas and Club Championships.
- Finding companies or individuals willing to sponsor the club.
- With lifts to galas.
