Waregrain CoatingsHampshire County ASA (for achieving Swim21)

Information for sponsors

  • The objectives of Romsey and Totton Swimming Club are to teach and coach swimming in all its forms but particularly competitive swimming.
  • We have operated in Romsey since 1948 and currently use both Romsey Rapids and Totton Recreation Centre. Our catchment area also includes the Eastern New Forest and Waterside. The Club has around 200 swimming members; 90% are under 18. Another 150 children aged from 4yrs old take lessons run by the Club to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Teaching Plan. In 2004 the Club was awarded the ASA’s Swim 21 Accreditation for its teaching operation.
  • The Club is committed to high standards of coaching and teaching, following the qualification schemes of the Amateur Swimming Association. Our ASA-qualified Club Coach leads a coaching team that includes a Commonwealth Games Champion, a national record holder, and a World Masters Games Champion. From the age of fourteen many of the swimmers take ASA teaching qualifications and help with the coaching and lessons. The Club provides a valuable sporting outlet for the youth of the local communities to enjoy individual and team competition, while developing their fitness, a healthy lifestyle, social skills, self-respect and pride in their achievements.
  • Our National squad trains for over 8 hours a week starting at 6am each weekday morning! Swimming is a tough sport and our swimmers need determination and self-discipline to train and compete at this level. Our swimmers regularly compete in the Hampshire County Championships, Southern Counties Championships and some years the National Championships.
  • We are a members' club and are non-profit making. Run by volunteers, we also supply qualified officials for championships, open meets and galas throughout the Southern Counties. The Club's largest single item of expenditure is for pool hire - £36,000 per year. Total turnover is around £55,000.

We need sponsorship for:

  1. Club championships – Cups, medals & ribbons including engraving.
  2. Continued implementation of the ASA National Teaching Plan.
  3. Coach and teacher training.
  4. Subsidised additional teaching for children aspiring to join the club.
  5. Subsidised training for disadvantaged swimmers.
  6. Attendance at County and National Swimming galas.
  7. Day to day running costs especially pool hire, & other equipment such as lane ropes & swimming aides.

In return we can offer promotional opportunities for sponsors via the Club's newsletter, web-site, press releases, home event programmes, signboards, banners, cups & medals and team clothing. We would welcome the opportunity for one of the Club's officers to discuss sponsorship and promotional possibilities. Please contact Jonathon Hawkins 01794 323725 or e-mail info@ratswim.org.
